Mathematician
I have a master’s degree in mathematics from George Washington University. I really enjoy mathematical logic and the intersection between philosophy and math. I don’t do too much math these days but I still like some articles and try a few easy proofs every now and again.
Reader
To relax I enjoy reading. The amount I read ebbs and flows but I almost have some book around that I’m reading. I’ll read pretty much anything but I have a particular interest modernist literature with Ernest Hemingway being my favorite author. My favorite book is The Catcher in the Rye by JD Slainger which I know is a cliche but I don’t care. I don’t use Goodreads (amazon sucks) so checkout my StoryGraph.
Philosopher
As an undergraduate at Emmanuel College devoted much of my time to philosophy. I really enjoyed the philosophy that everyone seemed to get annoyed by like analytic philosophy. I find inspiration from Gottlob Frege, Bertrand Russel, Ludwig Wittgenstein, and Willard Van Orman Quine. I could spend hours discussing the philosophy of mathematics but I’ll talk about any philosophical idea (or turn any discussion into a philosophy talk).
Runner
When I was 12 years old I joined a running club and I’ve been running off and on ever since. In college I ran cross country and track and field. My best race was the 8k at the Saints Invitational the Fall of my Junior year with a personal best of 29:32. Recently I have been getting into racing long distances, I’ve raced the DC Rock and Roll Half Marathon and the DC Half Marathon, and I’m registered to race my first marathon at the Philadelphia Marathon this November.
Hiker
Hiking is my favorite activity but unfortunately I do not have the time to hike nearly as much as I would like. One of the greatest accomplishments of my life is thruhiking the Appalachian Trail in 2018. I hiked 2,200 miles from Mt. Springer George to Mt. Katahdin Maine over the course of 5 months. You can see some photos from my journey on my instagram and I hoping to put together a photo album or page or something for this website. These days I mostly only do day hikes in Shenandoah National Park.
Et Cetera
My diverse interests include but not limited to knitting, biking, writing, cooking, coffee, history, national parks, sitcoms, folk music, rom coms, and of course manatees.
